Overview

As the only professional society dedicated to hospital medicine, SHM provides our membership with hospitalist-specific continuing medical education (CME) and Maintenance of Certification (MOC) opportunities. SHM is constantly working to expand our educational library to help you stay current in the knowledge and skills you need as the scope of hospital medicine continues to grow. SHM notes all activities, products and resources that count for CME credit. Credit types may include: 

  • AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™
  • American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) MOC Medical Knowledge Points
  • Prescribed credit by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP)
  • American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) MOC Lifelong Learning Points
  • American Osteopathic Association (AOA) CME credits 
  • Pharmacology credit

Not all activities are approved for all credit types. See activity front matter for details on the credits offered for your activity.

SHM Learning Portal

Modules

Modules are the smallest bits of education you can consume within the SHM Learning Portal. Each module is listed with a detailed summary of the topic, goals, available credits and an estimated completion time provide full disclosure before you begin.

Series

Series are made up of a set of Learning Portal modules on the same topic. You can complete an entire series or choose one or two modules within the set. Begin a series at any time and come back to complete it later!

On Demand

Conferences On Demand give you access to audio and slide recordings from the hottest sessions and tracks. You can purchase SHM Converge On Demand 2023, SHM Converge On Demand 2022, and SHM Converge On Demand 2021 via the Learning Portal.

Accreditation

The Society of Hospital Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing education for physicians.
